Room Heating:
Open fires are wasteful of energy, with more than 70% of the heat from the fuel going up the chimney. Installing a stove, which has an efficiency of
70 – 80%, in place of an open fire, will greatly improve your energy efficiency in the home.
Stoves are up to three times more energy efficient than open fires and also eliminate ventilation heat losses associated with open fires, thus leaving the house warmer even when not in operation.
Replacing an open fire with an efficient stove will reduce the household
energy consumption by 8 -10%.
Waterford Stanley stoves are the market leaders for stoves in Ireland and all their solid fuel stoves are tested and approved by HETAS, the official testing and approval body for the domestic solid fuel industry. The stove efficiencies are outlined in this information leaflet.
